73% Decrease for Number of International Passengers at Iranian Airports

The CEO of Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company announced a 73% decrease in the number of international passengers in Iran by November 2020 compared to 2019 due to the Corona crisis.

Siavash Amir Makri announced the news: “In 2020, the world experienced a 59 to 60 percent decrease in air travel so that this year the airport revenue decreased by $ 112 billion and the number of domestic and international passengers reduced by 60 percent.”

The CEO of Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company added: “In 2020, 116 million international passengers and $ 21 billion dollars in revenue from international passengers decreased in Middle East airports.”

This year, the number of domestic passengers at Middle Eastern airports has dropped by 23 million, with revenues of $ 2 billion dollars,” he said.

Iran placed in 30th ranking in the world in terms of corona losses in the field of transit flights and air navigation services.

Amir Makri, pointing out that in 2020 we saw a 73% decrease in international passengers and a 46% decrease in the total number of Iranian air passengers, added: “Iran with a decrease of 52% and $ 69 million dollars compared to 2019 ranked 30th in terms of losses and it has losses in the world.”
