An investment of 300 billion tomans has been earmarked for the expansion of Ahvaz airport and the construction of a second runway, announced Mojtaba Yousefi. He emphasized the significance of the airport, ranking it as the fourth major airport in the country, and insisted on resolving the existing land issues to pave the way for its development.
Yousefi, the representative of Ahvaz in the Islamic Council, highlighted continuous efforts over the last two years to allocate the necessary funds for the project. He expressed readiness to champion this cause at the national level with the support of provincial authorities, aiming to catalyze the airport’s development and the construction of the second runway.
He further articulated that the realization of this project would eliminate existing restrictions on the landing and takeoff of flights at Ahvaz airport, facilitating an increase in the number of flight operations. Yousefi urged provincial officials to actively pursue the project at both the regional and national levels, ensuring the effective utilization of the allocated funds for the successful execution of the airport expansion.
