The Secretary of the Space Technology and Advanced Transportation Development Headquarters of the Vice President for Science and Technology, referring to the country’s ability to manufacture parts and emphasizing the country’s 80% capability in the field of engines, said: Limited specialized service centers and access to spare parts from black markets is one of the challenges in this area.
Dr. Manouchehr Manteghi in the meeting with the Vice President for Science and Technology with startups, stating that there are many challenges in the level of readiness of the commercial fleet in the country, added: Challenges of the commercial fleet in the country included the acquisition of spare parts through the black market In supplying parts, high number of MROs and specialized air service centers and their limited scope of work, not using the potential capability of MROs in the country and lack of informing systems for startups about the needs of airlines for localization.
He noted that to cope with this challenge, the headquarters has created a chain of spare parts manufacturers to localize the parts needed for the MRO.
He emphasized that the National Aviation Organization has implemented to develop spare parts manufacturing, Manteghi continued: The purpose of holding this meeting is to familiarize airlines with the capabilities of companies in the field of localization of parts required by the aviation industry and the development of MRO centers in the country.
“There are currently 47 MROs in operation, and one center for every six aircraft has been established,” said the secretary of the Office of Advanced Space Technology and Transportation Development.
Manteghi added, “Due to some high-cost equipment, such as the engine test platform, MROs utilize methods that have lower reliability for the final test of repaired parts.”
Manteghi pointed out: According to the analysis in the field of MRO in the country, we have 40% of the number of activities in the field of driving forces, domestically made, and the amount of outsourcing of activities abroad is 60%. Also in the field of composites and components, 75% of outsourcing is done abroad and 25% inside the country.
He added: “Also, in the specialized field of wings (structure, wings, and body), 55% of outsourcing and 45% of the number of activities in the country.”
The Secretary of the Advanced Space Technology and Transportation Development Headquarters said: in the field of technical-engineering / support services, 45% will be outsourced abroad and the rest will be done inside the country.
He emphasized that there is a need to create a network to reach the high level of MRO in the country, Manteghi said: “Engines and accessories, reference laboratories and licensing training” and member companies in the field of engines, spare parts manufacturing network and companies in the field of accessories, they are one of our priorities for establishing an MRO network in the country.
